ESTRELLA TESS

TESS  STAR




Esta estrella no es modular. La aprendí de Meri Affranchino hace unas semanas y su origen es confuso. Hay un diagrama, posiblemente japonés o chino, de pésima visibilidad. Como me olvido fácilmente de los modelos sin referencias, una vez más hice instrucciones (con la ayuda de las fotos de Anita Zaltz) para no olvidarla. Si alguien puede aportar datos sobre autor y origen, se agradecerá... El nombre que le dí  se debe a que la técnica de plegado es similar a la de los teselados.

This isn't a modular star. I learned it from Meri Affranchino a few weeks ago and its provenance is not clear. There's a diagram, Japanese or Chinese, very blurry. Since I tend to forget models without  reference, once again I made instructions (with Anita Zaltz's helpful photos) to remember it. I'll be grateful if someone can offer information on authorship and origin. The name I gave it refers to the folding technique, similar to that of tessellations.

 



Estos son los pliegues preparatorios que hacen falta: diagonales, medianas y cuartos. DAR VUELTA

These are the preparatory folds you'll need: diagonals, halfs and quarters. TURN OVER

Hacer los pliegues diagonales que se indican. Repetir en las 4 esquinas.

Valley fold as indicated and repeat at the four corners.
 Se hacen así, 4 veces. DAR VUELTA

This is how they're done, 4 times. TURN OVER

Ahora hay que dividir los sectores centrales en octavos, como se ve.

Now you must divide the central quarters as shown.
 Debe quedar así. .

It should look like this. 
Y repetimos la operación en la otra dirección.

And repeat the folds in the other direction.
 Queda así y con esto terminan los plegados preliminares. DESPLEGAR TODO

It looks like this, and this is the end of the pre-creasing. UNFOLD COMPLETELY
Ahora hay que comenzar a dar forma a las esquinas, disponiéndolas como se indica en montes y valles.

Now start to refold shaping the corner following the valley and mountain folds.		 Vista de la esquina con más detalle. Las siguientes fotos muestran cómo debe quedar.

Para poder repetir en las otras esquinas es necesario desplegar cada una. Al llegar a la última se colapsan las tres anteriores y se obtiene la forma final, como se ve más abajo.

In order to shape the other corners you must first unfold each one. Once you reach the fourth, you can collapse the other three too to get the final shape, as shown below

El resto es fácil.

The rest is easy.
Primero hay que formar las puntas medias hundiendo los pliegues laterales. DAR VUELTA

Start by shaping the middle points sinking the side folds.  TURN OVER
Plegar las 4 puntas de las esquinas.

Fold the four corner points.		 Y terminar plegando las 4 puntas centrales.

And finish it folding the four central points.
